Global Warming Pleeeeeeeeeeease

The latest news from the East Coast of the USA is that the snow storm so far isn't as bad as predicted but nonetheless it is a bad one and the city is barely moving. More blizzard weather is still forecast.

I guess Al Gore won't be attending the Big Apple until well after the melt and the floods subside. Of course he will say that this is Climate Change caused by Global Warming. I wonder how the homeless in Central Park and the Bronx will feel about that revelation ?

She's a wrecking ball!‏

QLD locals, especially in and around the Federal Electorates of Dawson and Capricornia, desperately want Abbot Point to go ahead for the jobs but Labor has announced that they will ‘put a wrecking ball’ through the proposal to pander to the Greens voters in inner city Brisbane.

Makes you wonder why the QLD ALP leader, Anastacia Palaszczuk would have any hope with that type of backward thinking?

Insane Penalty on the Country‏

I have worked shift work for most of my life. Some of those jobs I chose to do and others I just had to do. Of all of them I never was attracted to an occupation because it offered penalty rates for working weekends and nights.

I know of no Police Officers, Security Guards, Nurse, Ambo's or Fire Fighter's to name a few, who thought it was a great job to get into because of the penalty rates.

I really do not understand why we still see these periods in the week as being such a sacrificial time to do your job. This is a 24 hour, 7 day a week economy and has been for decades. The workforce is becoming more casualized everyday and salaries are the preferred option for most professionals regardless of their work hours.

As more and more jobs go overseas because of the not so level playing field that Globalisation has given us, the only true obstacle left to keep Australians working and business being competitive are PENALTY RATES.

Should they be removed all together? Perhaps not completely as the shock to many family budgets will be dramatic, therefore the solution is compromise and bargaining that will be of mutual benefit to employer and employees. Sure a few people will lose some money but the trade off is job security and less dependence on the Welfare State.

Of course this industrial relations debate suits the ALP Leader, Bill Shorten nicely, as he will no doubt encourage demarcation disputes and industrial action and then blame the sideshow of misery that these things bring on the PM who is already suffering in the popularity stakes.

In my opinion this will be not only be the greatest test of Tony Abbott's resolve and commitment to see and act past his political career and to cause the overdue death of the Aussie entitlement mentality but it will also shine a light on Shorten's leadership credibility as someone who is not a Union puppet but an ALP Prime Minister in the waiting.

Let's see if the insanity continues!

Hypocrisy on HIGH‏

I was just thinking about this the other day and wondering just why are we spending days and thousands of hours of non stop media coverage/debate, social media campaigns of outrage, along with massive street protests, in reaction to the murder of just over a dozen innocent French people by Jihadists and yet at the same time, just over 2000 innocent Nigerians are murdered by more Islamists nutters AND it barely gets a mention?

Is it that we have become so desensitised to the many murders in third word countries and Communist dictatorships, that when it happens in the West we are simply in shock thus this is how we deal with our outrage in a such a detailed and loud way?

Of course I have no issue with the outrage, analysis, protests and the global showing of solidarity against these 9th Century throwbacks but I would think that more needs to be said and done about thousands of men, women & children being slaughtered in Nigeria and elsewhere on an almost daily basis.

I might also repeat my earlier cartoon comment, that the hypocrisy of the Left amongst us truly has no bounds. Wearing their "Je Suis Charlie" tee shirts is nothing more than a populist hipster look when worn by the very same leftards that protested loudly to stop the proposed Coalition changes to the ridiculous/dangerous 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act.

Tell me again about 18C‏

Here we all are again, faced with another attack on our very fundamental freedoms and this it's time from the more obvious of freedom's enemies. I still wonder though that even after this tragedy in Paris and recently in Sydney, if the enemies within, the apologists and navel gazing hand-wringers of the left, will ever get it?

"WE ARE ALL CHARLIE HEBDO TODAY....AND TOMORROW!"

Background:  18C is a part of Australian law that makes it illegal to offend anyone.  The cartoonist in the image above is caricaturing Australian Prime Minster Tony Abbott.  The Left-leaning Fairfax press has not said a good word about Abbott from the day he was elected.
